Busiate are a type of typical Sicilian pasta, coming in particular from the province of Trapani, now widespread throughout the island. Characterized by its particular curled shape, the Busiate have been elected as a symbol of the extraordinary Sicilian food and wine tradition. They are made exclusively with durum wheat semolina and water and have a characteristic spiral shape. The "Busiate" owe their name to the busi, or the irons that are used to twist it. It is a product so rooted in its territory that it has obtained recognition as a traditional agri-food product (PAT) of the Sicily region.
This pasta shape can be perfectly combined with pesto or our ready-made sauce of siccagno tomato and basil for the little ones, or, if you prefer with pork and fennel sauce, ready-made sauce of pic-pac of siccagno tomato or with our tasty ready-made sauce "al Segreto di Cozzo di Cicero"....In whatever way you want to prepare them, don't forget to add a grated salted ricotta from "Le Bontà di Villa Dafne".
